How To Take Care Of Your Baby’s Skin?

How to take care of your baby's skin?

Your baby’s skin is very important, given its sensitivity, and it is also the largest organ in the human body. To ensure proper care it is necessary to follow the advice of specialists and mothers who have managed to successfully complete this task.

There are many ways to take care of your skin, but the most important thing is not to overdo it with care, baths or the amount of products we use. There are very useful methods for this, which not only consist of bathing the baby, but which involve attention in relation to other procedures, such as changing the diaper and the type of clothes we make him wear.

Newborn Skin Care Tips

It is advisable to choose materials and products suitable for children, because sometimes it can happen that we do everything right, but the fundamental question is wrong. If you have any doubts about how to proceed or don’t know exactly how to do it, we will help you improve your skills with the following tips.

1. The bathroom is necessary but not mandatory

Bath time can be very relaxing for the baby, but it can sometimes be annoying. To ensure that the bath is pleasant, it is advisable to take care of the water temperature and, to ensure skin care, we make sure that it does not last too long.

baby-bathing

In the first months of life, the baby does not have to bathe every day ; but many times the sweat and the residuals of feces and urine force to a more specific cleaning. Keeping the baby clean avoids skin irritation and prevents the skin from drying out.

Similarly, it is advisable to choose hypoallergenic soaps and the towel that is used to dry it and the clothes we make him wear must not have been washed with detergents or fabric softeners. It is also not advisable to use body creams with strong odors or that are not specific for newborns; although the use of these and talcum powder is recommended for diaper changes, one should not overdo it.

At the time of the bath, we must take advantage to do that cleaning that we have not done, especially when we change the diaper. It is advisable to clean with water using a wipe or a sponge, taking care to thoroughly clean the folds of the skin and in particular the area of the genitals ; if you are male, penis hygiene requires special attention.

2. Protect it from the sun

Exposing the child to the sun and other environmental factors such as cold or wind is advisable. However, these agents could damage your skin; for this reason,  exposure to the sun in the first months should not be direct, but it is necessary to protect his eyes and his skin.

The sun can bring many benefits, especially because it is a source of vitamin D, but prolonged and direct exposure is harmful to humans. Likewise, we need to protect our baby’s skin from cold and wind, which can cause irritation and dryness.

3. A necessary element, the diaper

diaper-change

Sometimes we think that, when changing nappies, it is enough to follow hygiene rules and protect the baby from moisture in the genital area. However, it is very important to choose the correct nappy, which we don’t always do. In general, we care about the level of absorption, which is also important, but we need to be careful of any reactions this might provoke.

In fact, sometimes  the diaper can cause irritation or allergies, due to the type of material it is made of. It goes without saying that a diaper designed for babies is made to be tolerable, but some babies are extremely delicate; for this reason, it is advisable to choose those in which organic fibers predominate.

As for the diaper change, it is very important that we take care to change it immediately and that we realize that the baby requires it, since most of the time the irritation occurs because the baby spends a lot of time in contact with urine and the feces.

It is then necessary to carefully clean the genital area, and to do this it is recommended to use baby wipes, trying to eliminate all possible residues. To complete this process, some mothers usually apply special creams and even talcum powder.
