Today we would like to remind you of the importance of having personalized routines for the whole family, to ensure that daily life can proceed at its best. To have a good day of school, these routines are absolutely essential. Today we would like to talk about these morning routines, the first ones that are done when we get up in the morning and that determine how things will go throughout the day.

These morning routines must be planned from the start of the class days. But even though schools have started a few months ago, it’s not too late.

Morning routines begin with an alarm clock

At the beginning of the school year, we can buy an alarm clock for our children. This is a great time to start giving them the responsibility to wake up and get out of bed on time.

Be careful though. This does not mean that we can forget about them and that we are exempted from making sure if they get up or not. We will probably have to keep asking them to get out of bed several times, as we always do (this is the most common occurrence).

among the morning routines to follow, the use of the alarm clock is important

We will need to pay close attention to how children manage their awakening, especially during the first week of using the alarm. We have to wake them up even if their alarm goes off and make sure they dress and eat breakfast properly.

As they get used to the sound of the alarm and follow a time that they set themselves, we can let them sleep a little longer. We’ll just have to make sure they have enough time to get dressed, have breakfast, pack their belongings and be ready to go out.

If they go to school by public transport, they need to be ready to get to the bus stop on time. If we take them to school instead, their morning schedule can be a little more flexible.

Children

For young children, creating a visual list of the things they need to do and need each morning is a great idea. It is a question of creating a bulleted list of which the individual items can be checked as they carry out each task. Pictures are important. An example:

  • Dress up – put pictures of pants, t-shirt, socks, etc.
  • Having breakfast – photo of a meal.
  • Brushing our teeth – image of a toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • Things to bring with us – photos of the backpack, with the snack bag for recreation.

    Older children

If the children are older, they don’t need pictures; nonetheless, the list continues to be very useful for them as well. We can place this list in various places in the house, such as the bedroom, bathroom and refrigerator. That way they won’t need to go back to the bedroom to see what the next task is.

among the morning routines of our children, the preparation of a snack for recreation must not be missing

The importance of breakfast for a good school day

All doctors and nutrition experts agree on the importance and benefits of having a good breakfast every morning. Breakfast provides energy after the long night period during which our body has not received nutrients. Having a good breakfast will help the children find more concentration in school.

If your child doesn’t want to eat a full breakfast someday, we’ll need to find healthy alternatives that provide the nutrients they need to start the day. In creating this breakfast we can be as imaginative as we wish.

Creating and maintaining a good morning routine is key to having a good school day. Also, after we have adopted it, it is very easy to continue following it, to the point that it becomes a sort of necessity for everyone. It makes our life easier.

Routines are always helpful. In this case, they allow us to know, without stopping to think, how to stay organized and how to prepare for each school day. Children will assimilate them without any problem and, in a short time, they will become part of their daily life.
